Apple Touch Screen Netbook This Year
Good news for Netbook lovers! There is rumor that Apple is planning to release a Netbook by the third quarter of 2009. This has been reported by Commercial Times. The news has been taken seriously by some and not so seriously by others because of the fact that previously too, Commercial Times had published information on stuff which did not turn out to be true.
The report also says that Wintek, a Taiwanese based company is going to provide the touch screen panels for the netbooks and Quanta Computers will do the assembling of parts and design the final machine. These are not confirmed reports but there is a high possibility. But if such a thing happens, it will be of great benefit as it will be a very handy piece of device. However Wintek has confirmed about the work going on in developing the touch screens for the netbook.
The size, shape and information about other specifications of the device is not made available as of now and this is quite expected. But there has been rumor that the netbook will not have an optical drive. There is also speculation that it will have a clamshell design and is not likely to be a tablet device. Wintek itself is not sure about the intentions of Apple on the appearance of the netbook’s display and talks are still on.
The Apple touch screen netbook is expected to be out in the market by the third quarter of 2009. Initially Apple remained a bit reserved about the idea of netbooks but they have now overcome their inhibitions. They were not in support of mini netbooks earlier because they thought that the device was not very comfortable with its small display and keyboard. But they also pointed out that they have certain ideas to build a device which would overcome these shortcomings.
Noramlly netbooks use Intel Atom processors but Apple has been recently developing a Ultra Low Voltage processor that would be much faster to be used for the netbook.
Many people are of the opinion that the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch are similar to a netbook but a common man would generally want a less expensive computer with a keyboard. One thought which lingers in the mind is how much an Apple netbook would be priced at. Will the pricing be lower in competition with Acer, MSI or ASUS or will it be high priced like the Sony VAIO P netbook? These are some of the unanswered questions which will be revealed when time comes.
