This sleek and stylish netbook from Toshiba gives you the ability to connect to the Internet from anywhere with its wireless capabilities, but if you’re looking for more than that, you may want to pass on this model. The Toshiba NB100-11R only has 80GB of hard drive space, which isn’t unusual for a netbook but with less than 1GB of memory, you have to wonder how well the machine will run for you and just how much you’ll be able to do while using your netbook.

This Toshiba also comes with a screen that’s 8.9″, which while that also was once the standard in netbooks just won’t cut it anymore without a few features to pad it and it also has no optical drive so unless you have external storage, there won’t be any way to get your files from your netbook to your home PC. The operating system is not from a dinosaur’s age but certainly isn’t among the more impressive operating systems being put into other models – it’s the Ubuntu Netbook Remix operating system which will serve the purpose but will also take some getting used to.

This Toshiba really is a bare-bones machine and even for those who are just looking for the basics in their new netbook should pass on this model. For the price, there’s much more available that will let you do many more things with your netbook and get much better use out of it!

The New Aspire One from Acer brings you the 160GB of hard drive space that the older version did, which is already impressive for a netbook, and the 1 GB of memory space but the New Aspire also allows you to customize your machine, using the 4 different sections that the screen is divided into. Within these 4 sections are all the applications you will need to run your New Aspire and these sections can be customized, making it even easier for you to use. The Fujitsu UI 3250 is undoubtedly compact and comes in a slim and lightweight design but you may want to consider what you are really getting before investing in this netbook. While it’s clearly not one of the most expensive netbooks on the market, it’s definitely not one of the cheapest either. Considering this fact, it’s important to note that this netbook has only a 1 GB hard drive, so you won’t be able to store your entire life on it and the 1 MB of memory may make the machine become choppy when you have too many programs running at once. Another limitation you may have if you want to hook up a bunch of thing to it is that it only has 2 USB ports which will probably be sufficient anyways when you are looking at smaller netbooks. Some of the features it does have are bluetooth technology, a built-in webcam, and a battery with an approximate life of 4.5 hours before needing to be charged. Still, if all you’re looking for is a small model that can be toted around with you, there are better models on the market than this one. Add to that the outdated design and you’re sure to be able to find something better.

This Advent netbook is certainly at the lower end of the price range when compared to other brands and designs but in the case of the Advent 4489 Netbook, it’s truly a case of getting what you pay for. Not only does this black and silver netbook look like something from prehistoric times but it also has only 80 GB on the hard drive, which will be barely enough to hold the documents that you need, let alone any videos or pictures that you want to carry around with you. It also has less than 1 GB of memory, which will most likely leave any user frustrated as they try to switch between programs or browse online smoothly. The built-in webcam is a nice touch, as are the built-in speakers but considering that these are the only two really great things about this model, it’s probably worth spending just a little more to get so much more in return!

This Acer netbook comes in a stunning Sapphire Blue colour but if you’re looking for more out of your machine than just looks you may want to consider similar models, that may end up offering you more bang for your buck. The 120 GB of hard drive are similar, if not better than, many models, and the Acer AOA150-BB also runs on the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, which is also very comparable to other machines. It does not however, come with any additional application software, which other netbooks most often do. The fact that it doesn’t have FireWire ports isn’t surprising for any netbook but the fact that there are only 2 USB ports means that you’ll be even more limited when it comes to hooking things up to your machine. The battery also wanes after about 3 hours, which means that even if you can browse the Internet and check your email, you’ll only be able to do so for short periods of time. While this Acer features many of the same things that other netbooks on the market do as well, it also lacks in many others. Giving this netbook are a few points are its stunning colour and the fact that it’s very compact and light with an 8.9″ screen and weighing less than 1 kilogram!
