New edition of NC 10 at Amazon for pre order
Well, before the NC 20 hits the market; a special edition of Samsung’s older version, NC 10 is available for pre order at Amazon.com. This special edition with new improved battery life, bigger track pad and glossier screen comes at $ 499. Only Amazon.com is offering this exclusive edition of NC 10, which has a product code of 11 PBK.
Generally, special editions are disappointing as all that they offer is the same product in some new color or few changes done physically, but this latest edition of NC 10 offers improved battery life which affects its usability also, so people are going to think about it.
Many people think that Samsung’s NC 10 is one of the best available notebooks at that cost, and when this special edition is a further improvement over the standard version for just $ 40, it makes sense to go for it. The small track pad of the standard version was a common complaint of the users which has been replaced by a large mouse pad in this new edition.
So, for 50$ you get a high capacity battery and a large mouse pad. NC 10 already had a good battery life and now with 5900mAh, 6- cell battery life; the battery life extends to 9.4 hours which is very good. The large track pad will make moving the mouse around much easier. However, there is a change which many people may not like. The standard version had a matte finish on its screen but this new edition comes with a glossy screen. Glossy screens have some issues though; as they are more prone to finger print marks. Also, for outdoor usage glossier screens make it difficult to read the content.
Apart form these, the netbook remains the same. It has the same 10.2 inch LCD display as the original version. It runs on Intel N 270 CPU and has 160 GB HDD and 1 GB RAM. The netbook comes with Windows XP loaded with built- in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Currently the netbook is available in black color.
So at just $ 499 with free shipping, you get all these features. But if you plan to save these 50$ then you can get the old NC 10 for 445$ at Amazon which is still a decent enough netbook with a battery life of up to 7 hours. Any details on the shipping date of this special edition have not been disclosed as yet.

Would have loved to go for this, with the longer battery life and bigger trackpad….until I read the part about the glossy screen, that’s a definate backward step, especially for a Netbook, something you use out and about, and maybe outdoors, a matte screen would be much better.
The glossy screen is the one thing I hate about my laptop. When I got it, people were saying how it improves the image, which it does in room lighting conditions, but in bright light, it’s a nightmare for reflections.
The gloss screen rules this Special Edition out for me, which is really disappointing, and the small trackpad was the only thing holding me back from getting the standard NC10.
