Samsung is planning a new netbook
Very soon your new Samsung NC 10 netbook is going to be obsolete. Samsung Electronics is planning to add a new netbook to its range now. This new netbook may be N20, according to the reports. Samsung’s last netbook, NC10 was launched in the second half of the year 2008. The new netbook would probably be launched next month. The netbook will have the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, 1.3 mega pixel camera, 3-in-1 card reader.
Netbooks are a rage now because of their small sizes and cost efficiency. Every computer maker is coming up with a new model every few months. Sony, which had not launched a netbook till now, came out with Viao P series at the Consumer Electronic Show 09 earlier this month. Now, only Apple is left with no netbook to its name.
Regarding Samsung’s new netbook, very few details have come out so far. What is clear is that while NC 10 netbook ran on Intel’s Atom processor, the NC 20 is believed to be using Via Technologies, less power consuming and efficient, 1.3 GHz Nano U225 processor. If this is true, it would be a big boost to Via who has been trying to get past Intel’s stronghold. Most of the contemporary netbooks are using either Intel’s Atom or Celeron.
Samsung has confirmed that NC 20 will have a 12.1”, 1280 X 800 screen as opposed to NC 10’s 10.2” screen. This makes one wonder whether it is a netbook or a small notebook. Actually, it is somewhere mid way; so for those looking for bigger netbooks, who can not seem to like a 10” screen and find 13” screen too big, should be looking forward to it. The netbook will be having 3 USB ports; two on the right hand side and one on the left side; wired LAN port, Monitor port, Microphone port, Micro phone and headphone jack on the left hand side. The ports positions have been altered as compared to the NC 10.
It will have windows XP, 1 GB of Ram. The storage will be around 160 GB, like NC 10 with SD slot, so a good storing capacity. Of course, the netbook will be with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity as they are a norm now. Battery is the same Lithium Ion, 6 cell one as the NC 10. The netbook will be lightweight and weigh around 3.3 pounds. Tipped to be priced at $ 500, it sounds more expensive than other netbooks around.
